In 1981 and 1982 I had big summers of overland travelling in Europe. 1981 was a minibus expedition from Oxford all across Europe to Moscow and back with folk from Christ Church, taking in Poland, Czechoslovakia, The Ukraine, Russia,  and a few other places on the way. 
 

1982 was my undergraduate dissertation in the Scillies and an inter-rail summer with my friend Sue, covering Greece, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, and a few overnight journeys through the Balkans that leave me unsure of exactly where I've actually been!
